Dolores’s Weight Loss Success Story
The program made me stronger not to fall back to my old habits.
When I kept gaining weight and I had no energy to get off the couch and be active or at least go for a walk, I was referred to Scottsdale Weight Loss Center by my primary doctor. I had no idea what Scottsdale Weight Loss Center was about but at my heaviest, I have ever been I had to make a change in my life.
As soon as I walked into the Scottsdale Weight Loss Center office, aside from feeling embarrassed for allowing myself to get so heavy, the consultant made me feel very comfortable and confident I could do the program. She explained what the program was about and then she mentioned “Classes”! My first thought was “oh no classes” where am I going to find the energy to attend classes? Then I stopped and thought about it, we all prepare or have a checklist for the important events in our lives camping, grocery list, vacation, but when it comes to our health and losing weight we tend to find every excuse in the book not to prepare or follow through a program. But remember I was willing to do anything to lose weight.
The first time I entered a class was for the last 10 minutes, the class was about how to prepare when you go out to a restaurant. They were talking about how many calories were in a margarita and a frozen daiquiri and I was so bummed out as I am a very social drinker. But I stayed for the full class afterward and I learned so much, it was kind of fun the way the class was performed and how the calorie count comment was fully explained. Another class was about portion control, which was interesting as the doctor (instructor) had tangible items compare to portions and sizes. It sounds very elementary but believe me it has helped me a lot. Every class I have taken has made losing weight easier. I have learned so much and appreciate everything people who take time to help me understand and have answered all my questions. I might have to say the classes are my favorite part of the program.
I can sit here and write on how good I feel, how the program helped and continues to help me lose weight, how much energy I have, but in reality it was hard very hard. It was the classes that really helped me understand and help me learn about myself and the choices I have learned to make and have made me stronger not to fall back to my old habits. I am so thankful the program allows us to continue to attend classes missed. The classes are so helpful and without them, this program would have been even hard.
