I was a serial dieter…
Yo-yo was my middle name. As I approached turning 56 years old, I came to the realization that now was the time to make some changes in my life. My family has suffered from diabetes and heart disease. I made up my mind that I would not become another victim of my genes. I have always led a very active lifestyle with exercise being a regular part of my life. My real problems came from the fact that I could not control the other side of the equation: the eating side.
No matter how hard I worked at the exercise, I always seemed to sabotage my diet by thinking I could eat whatever I wanted as long as I was active. I came to Scottsdale Weight Loss Center with the hope that I could gain control of my life. The program turned out to be easy for me and over 12 to 14 weeks I dropped 45 lbs. As I dropped the weight I continued with my exercise regimen and the results were amazing.
After the weight was gone, my daughter-in-law asked me if I might want to train to do a marathon. She was a veteran runner and thought I might be up to the challenge. I have never been one to be shy when someone gave me a challenge so I began to train, thinking that I could always back out if it got too tough.
Well, the day came and I found myself ready to go. I finished my first full marathon at age 56 and feel that there might be a few more in my future. Without the help of SWLC I would have never been able to accomplish this incredible thing.
Thank you Dr. Z and your incredible staff for all the encouragement and support!
Wow! Congratulations on finishing a FULL marathon! Your history sounds a lot like mine – pretty active but justified eating more than I should. Now that most of my weight is gone with SWLC, I am really enjoying running again too (but not very far …yet!) You have inspired me!
