“I believe 3 words have been the cornerstone to my success…”
Congratulations to September’s Patient of the Month, TC! She has lost an incredible 67 lbs and is successfully reaching all her weight loss goals. She has discovered an incredible amount of strength, will power and personal responsibility on her path here at SWLC! Here is what she had to say about her weight loss journey thus far:
“I did a lot of research into which weight loss option was right for me and I knew from the moment I called for my consultation I had made the right decision. The idea of starting a weight loss program in itself can be a very intimidating and often demeaning experience. For myself I had to get over my own sense of failure. This entire staff is amazing! Everyone is so supportive and Dr. Primack speaks to you like an intelligent human being. In fact he has actually been very gracious in putting up with my constant “research related” questions and constant probing of “Why “and “what” (Thank you).
I believe 3 words have been the cornerstone to my success…
- Commitment — you have to be ready to be fully committed to your own success—this means all in…no excuses. (I had to remind myself of this daily-almost hourly in my first two weeks)True story: On my 3rd day of my program , due to poor planning on my part I had to shop for groceries for my family- I was feeling irritable, and my 6yr old son was saying he was starving…(I did of course resist the urge to set him straight on what starving felt like) So we get our cart and the doors open and an overly cheerful lady yells” here sweetie catch” and she catapults a bag of my favorite potato chips at me…then say’s” it’s free potato chip day “… I just stared at her and said “you’ve got to be kidding me!!!” In my defense Chips are my biggest trigger food. I mean I would eat a full pound bag of chips by myself. I’m not proud of this fact but it is true…it was at that moment that I had my first true test of commitment…I didn’t eat them.
- Integrity — You have to be ready to be completely honest…no hiding from your friends, family your Doctor/PA most importantly yourself. (This is the toughest thing to do. But the most important)
- Accountability — yes you have to face the scale… if it’s not going in the direction you want it to, ultimately you have to be accountable to yourself as to why? (I’m not saying that there can’t be legitimate reasons as to why you aren’t reaching your goal, but if you are unwilling to take the extra steps to make it happen…who will?)
The bottom line for me is that the most important thing that I can do for myself and my family is to get healthy… And with all of the support of Scottsdale Weight Loss Center, my 3 amazing friends ( you know who you are), my husband and son(trust me nothing will keep you in line with these three words more than a 6yr old…just try and sneak a handful of chips around one… I bet you won’t get away it either…LoL)… I am doing it!”
