I know losing weight is the most common New Years Resolution, but I finally actually did it and reached my goal and you can too. When I started my weight loss journey on December 16, 2020, I was 200 lbs. at 5’2”. My knees hurt, my back hurt. My clothes didn’t fit. I wore flowy dresses with leggings to hide my body at work, and mostly sweatpants and big shirts at home because putting on anything I actually loved didn’t fit. I was also at the beginning of remission for my ulcerative colitis. It took 1.5 years to get a diagnosis and then another year to get it under control. So I was on all different types of medication and steroids that made me gain weight during that time. I was eating for comfort, foods that would not upset my stomach; white bread, rice, bananas, eggs, pasta with butter, anything carb-loaded and bland. My first week at Scottsdale Weightloss was the hardest. It was a big adjustment. Every week after that it got easier and easier. I was on a train that could not stop. I made sure I went to every appointment each week. I made them on the same day at the same time. It was, and is, part of my weekly routine. Going in and weighing on the scale has held me accountable. Dr. Ziltzer and everyone who I have come in contact with at the Scottsdale Weight Loss office have been so encouraging and I look forward to seeing them each week. It is now a year and 2 months later since I started. I am down 60 lbs., which is the average amount a 9-year-old weighs, it is crazy to think I lost a whole person! I feel amazing, I hit my goal weight in November 2021 just before Thanksgiving. Nothing on my body hurts anymore. I am not sick anymore either. I try to walk every day around my neighborhood for exercise. You really don’t have to join a fancy gym. I even started a walking club with other women who live near me. My children have witnessed their shrinking mommy, and have commented that now they can wrap their arms around my waist and grab their wrists. I am honestly a different person than who I was before. I know I will never be done because obesity is a disease and weight loss is a journey that you constantly have to stay on top of. I am currently in the active maintenance phase. I still go to the office to weigh in and see Dr. Ziltzer because this keeps me on track and accountable. I know I am inspiring others to take control of their health and start their weight loss journey too.
